The grand kingdom of Mahishmati is set to open its gates once more, and this time, the entire epic journey will unfold in a single, magnificent cinematic event. 'Baahubali: The Epic,' the highly anticipated re-cut and remastered version that merges the two original films into one saga, is coming to the big screens.
Producer Shobu Yarlagadda, whose vision alongside director S. S. Rajamouli brought this monumental franchise to life, has been vocal about why this re-release is not just a film event, but an absolutely amazing experience waiting for audiences worldwide.
For Shobu Yarlagadda, this new version, clocking in at around 3 hours and 45 minutes, is more than just a simple re-release. It's a definitive, streamlined version of the classic story. The team has worked tirelessly to re-edit the saga into a single, cohesive narrative. Shobu said, "This is not just a re-release—it's a re-experience," the producers stated, emphasizing the extensive work that has gone into creating this single-film version."
This approach ensures that the audience, whether they are revisiting the story or watching it for the first time, can follow the rise, fall, and legacy of Amarendra and Mahendra Baahubali as a seamless, powerful arc. Crucially, the team has taken the time to technically upgrade the film, ensuring it meets modern standards, especially for premium formats like IMAX and Dolby Atmos.
The film has undergone a complete visual treatment, including new color correction. Since the first part was shot on older cameras, the entire visual tapestry has been polished to look like a contemporary, state-of-the-art film.
The entire sound design has been re-mixed from scratch, specifically for an immersive Dolby Atmos experience, meaning the roar of the elephants, the clang of the swords, and M. M. Keeravani's thunderous score will engulf the viewer like never before.
For many fans, this marks the first time Baahubali: The Beginning will be shown on IMAX screens, an opportunity to truly appreciate the sheer scale for which the film was originally conceived.
One of the most heartwarming claims made by the producer is his excitement for the audience and even the original cast to enjoy the film without the intense pressure that surrounded the original releases.
When discussing the star of the film, Prabhas, Yarlagadda shared a touching sentiment: "For him also (along with the Producers), part one and part two came with a lot of pressure, how will it perform, what will it do, what is it etc? There was so much at stake for all of us at that time."
Now, with the film already a global phenomenon, the re-release is purely about celebrating its iconic status. The producer relayed Prabhas's genuine excitement, noting that the star will be able to enjoy this release because "there's no pressure attached to it."
This sense of celebration extends to the fans.
The initial success of Baahubali broke box office records and boundaries, but it also became a cultural event that many audiences missed on the big screen, opting for home viewing later. Shobu Yarlagadda highlighted that a core idea behind 'The Epic' is to "bring back the magic on the big screen" for a generation who only experienced the film on smaller devices.
