Actor Pankaj Kapur is considered as one of the stalwarts of Indian Cinema. He is amongst greatest great who has done all kinds of films. From art films to comercial to comedy etc. Pankaj has explored and graced all genre in various films.

One thing which has always been stuck with him is being one of the legends of both films and theatre he never got to taste the success of a movie star. After appearing in many films as a lead the actor was always boxed as character actor. 

During an interview with a Youtube channel Pankaj shared about his standard of living as an actor. He said I lead a good, middle-class life in Bombay. I am a humble actor, not a star. I am so grateful for the abilities that I have been bestowed with. They have helped me lead a respectable life.

Talking about the general norms associated with actors he regarded himself different from other actors saying I never wanted what others wanted. All I wanted was to be able to act, and that I did. I never wanted six cars and 12 houses. I have enough. I wanted a house, and I have one. I have gone with the flow. Not to say that I have been foolish and turned down work when I needed the money, because I have done work for money as well.

The Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro actor spoke about his father who pushed him to follow his dream of pursuing acting in early days of his youth. Sharing about it he said My father was a man of a different calibre. He would come and see every play of mine. Yes, before I left, he told me the English saying You have burnt your boats don’t look back. This inspired me, to have my father’s support. Whatever I learnt from him, I transferred to my three children and Shahid is a self-made man. 

What could I have to do with his success? I contributed nothing more than genes. Everything that he has achieved is because of his own hard work. I am very proud of it. I am not being humble, I am being truthful.

He spoke about his children and their decisions in life adding They are welcome to discuss ideas with me, but the decisions will always be theirs, so that they never blame me for their failures.

On the work front, Pankaj was last seen in Lost released in 2023. The film was streamed on ZEE5 and was premiered at Chicago South Asian Film Festival. And previously he shared screen space with his son Shahid Kapoor in Jersey in 2022. 

Pankaj has a Punjabi film named Raavi De Kande which is soon going to hit theatres on October 10, 2025. The film with a storyline centered on a father who, after his daughter is falsely defamed learns that true happiness comes from inner peace rather than societal judgment.
