Filmmaker Mohit Suri, celebrated for musical hits like Aashiqui 2 and his recent blockbuster, Saiyaara, was a key speaker at the FICCI Frames 2025 event, where he shared several interesting insights about his latest film and his future plans.

Suri, who attended the session with Yash Raj Films CEO Akshaye Widhani, opened up about the unexpected and deeply personal success of Saiyaara, which starred debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.
 
He revealed that the film’s early rough cut was quite long over three hours but producer Aditya Chopra showed immense confidence in its core story, predicting it would be a major hit regardless of its opening numbers.

The director confessed that the overwhelming love the film received from the public reminded him of the reaction to Aashiqui 2 over a decade ago. He noted that such a response is unpredictable and cannot be replicated through planning. 

He described the process of making Saiyaara as a "liberating experience," as he was able to stay true to his vision and cast authentic actors rather than being forced to chase bigger stars.

One of the most notable parts of Suri’s talk was his reflection on the industry's reaction to Saiyaara. He mentioned that fellow Bollywood directors, including Karan Johar, personally thanked him for the film. 

He also revealed that top South Indian directors called to congratulate him, an interaction that he suggested was rare for a Bollywood film in recent times. Suri said this proved that a good, heartfelt film can transcend the regional divisions often created in the entertainment world.

Looking ahead, Mohit Suri confirmed that he is already in discussions with Yash Raj Films' Aditya Chopra for a new project. Following the huge success of Saiyaara, the director is planning his next venture, signaling a strong ongoing partnership with the major production house.
