Actor Emraan Hashmi has expressed his genuine happiness and surprise regarding the overwhelmingly positive and viral response to his cameo in Aryan Khan's directorial debut, the series The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Hashmi's brief yet memorable appearance as an intimacy coordinator instantly became one of the most talked-about elements of the show, significantly stealing the spotlight from other star cameos.
Reflecting on the "Serial Kisser" Tag
Hashmi's reaction to the scene, particularly his interaction with co-actor Raghav Juyal, has a humorous and self-referential quality. For years, the actor was famously associated with the unofficial tag of "serial kisser" in Bollywood, often linked to his roles in films like Murder.
Speaking about the viral clip which features Juyal’s character, Parvaiz, declaring his undying fandom for Hashmi and breaking into a spontaneous song from his film Murder Hashmi noted a significant shift in public perception.
He mentioned that earlier, fans would either call him by his name or by his established, famous "image" alluding to the 'serial kisser' moniker without explicitly naming it. However, now that a dialogue from his cameo where Juyal's character asserts, "Akkha Bollywood ek taraf, Emraan Hashmi ek taraf" All of Bollywood is on one side, and Emraan Hashmi is on one side is being widely quoted, he feels happy and has "no complaints."
The actor also shared that he had discussed the scene's potential with director Aryan Khan and the Red Chillies team. While they knew the moment would likely be well-received, Hashmi confessed they never anticipated it would "blow up" and go viral on this massive scale.
This response, he suggested, was a valuable "lesson" to learn about audience connection.
The scene’s powerful impact is largely credited to the raw emotion and spontaneity of Juyal's performance, which reportedly was not fully scripted.
The unscripted element of Juyal's character passionately singing the Arabic part of "Kaho Na Kaho" from Hashmi’s film Murder added a layer of heartfelt nostalgia and humor that deeply resonated with long-time fans of Emraan Hashmi, turning the scene into a massive cultural moment that celebrated his entire filmography. Hashmi himself later commented on social media that the chemistry with Juyal in the series was "The best love story I have been part of."
