The world of cinema is buzzing with the release of the gripping trailer for the upcoming war drama, 'Ikkis', which marks the grand theatrical debut of young actor Agastya Nanda. Grandson of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, Agastya takes on a role of immense national significance, promising a powerful and emotional cinematic experience that celebrates a true national hero.
'Ikkis' is a biographical film centered on the incredible, untold true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India's youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra (PVC)—the nation's highest military honour for valour. The title itself, Ikkis, translates to 'twenty-one' in Hindi, a poignant reference to the hero's age when he made the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
The film is set against the intense backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak War, specifically focusing on the fierce Battle of Basantar. Second Lieutenant Khetarpal, a tank commander of the 17 Poona Horse regiment, displayed unparalleled courage and fighting spirit. He single-handedly charged through a minefield and destroyed multiple enemy tanks before being tragically killed in action. His famous, unwavering final words, "No, Sir. I will not abandon my tank. My gun is still working. I'll get these b****rds," have become legendary in the Indian Army and are expected to be a major highlight of the film.
The story is a powerful exploration of youthful determination, intense military training, the emotional toll of war, and the profound depth of patriotic sacrifice. Directed by the acclaimed Sriram Raghavan known for thrillers like Andhadhun, the film is produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner, ensuring a high-quality, gripping narrative.
The recently unveiled trailer has generated significant excitement, showcasing Agastya Nanda's dedication to portraying the courageous soldier. The trailer follows Arun Khetarpal's journey, beginning with his determined days as a cadet at the National Defence Academy (NDA). It opens on an inspiring note, with the young officer-to-be vowing to earn the prestigious Param Vir Chakra for his regiment, setting the tone for his grit and unwavering conviction.
The promotional video highlights his intense training, his resolve to push himself, and the deep emotional bonds with his family. The trailer also briefly touches upon a budding romantic angle, adding a human touch to the story of a young man with dreams suddenly thrust into the horrors of war. The snippets of tank battles and intense combat sequences promise a visually spectacular and authentic war drama.
Agastya's portrayal is already receiving praise for his commitment to the role, having undergone significant physical and military training. This film is his first major feature film release in theaters, following his debut on an Over-The-Top (OTT) platform.
Agastya Nanda stars in the lead role as Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. Veteran actor Dharmendra plays a pivotal character, portraying Arun Khetarpal's father, Lt Col (later Brigadier) M. L. Khetarpal, whose own stories of valor are shown to have inspired his son.
Acclaimed actor Jaideep Ahlawat is part of the main cast, reportedly playing the role of a Pakistani army officer who, in a moving moment shown in the trailer, acknowledges and honors Arun Khetarpal's bravery and legacy. The cast also includes Simar Bhatia and others in supporting roles.
'Ikkis' is scheduled for a theatrical release in December 2025, and it promises to be a deeply moving and inspiring tribute to one of India's most celebrated young military heroes. To know such latest updates, stay tuned to serialboosters.com Thank you!
