Huma Qureshi won Face of Asia Award in Busan, dedicates to the girls who dare to dream!
Actress Huma Qureshi hails from Delhi and have come far away in her journey and became a phenomenal actress in the Hindi film industry. She is one of the relevant actresses who is versatile in every genre and roles. She moulds herself in every performance she gets into.
Recently, Huma who is in Busan for her film 'Bayaan' won Face of Asia Award at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). It's one of the highly reputed and honourable film festival amongst across film industries worldwide. As some of the well received film gets felicitated at the iconic film festival.
Huma dedicated her win to little girls and said this is my first time in Busan. This is very special. For a little girl born in Delhi whose father was in Nizamuddin basti and whose mother was in a village, I was always told that becoming an actress is far a dream for me.
After wining the award it's not just a validation for me but for all the little girls who have been told that certain things are not meant for them. This is for all the little girls who dare to dream and not take no for an answer.
Bayaan is a story about a rookie female detective in a small town investigates an anonymous complaint of sexual abuse against a powerful and revered cult leader, facing systemic corruption and the deep-rooted silence of the community.
Huma has appeared in films like Double XL, Monica O My Darling, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Tarla, Bellbottom, Badlapur and Gangs of Wasseypur part 1 & 2 to name a few. Jolly LLB 3 which released yesterday also features Huma opposite Akshay Kumar. The actress even graced Jolly LLB 2 with her presence.
The actress is emerged on her own in the Maharani webseries. Where she played the lead role of Rani Bharti. The show revolves around her and people have saw the true potential in her and considered an actress in high regard in all the three parts of the show.
Maharani is based on an uneducated homemaker who is unexpectedly made the Chief Minister of Bihar by her injured husband, forcing her to confront political corruption, caste warfare, and internal party betrayals.
On the work front, Huma has Maharani season 4, Delhi Crime Season 3. She also has Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, Pooja Meri Jaan and Gulabi. Going by her choices it seems Huma is clearing focusing on strong, female-led narratives in both films and streaming shows.
