Aamir Khan asked Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi to rewrite Dadasaheb Phalke's script, as it lacked theatrical elements necessary for the silver screen!
Aamir Khan aka "Mr perfectionist" is a commendable actor. He is one of the most experimental and versatile actor in the Indian film industry. Known for films like Lagaan, Dangal, PK, Dhoom 3, Ghajini etc to name a few Aamir is a celebrated star and enjoys a massive fan following around the globe.
With a career of more than three decades Aamir still is at the peak of his career where people awaits what new and fresh their favourite actor will bring to the table. As he hardly fails to disappoint the audience. He is one of the few actors who knows the pulse of the masses and tries to provide a right balance of entertainment, drama and laughter.
Aamir Khan in May this year announced the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic with the director Rajkumar Hirani. The film is written by Raju's long time writer Abhijat Joshi. Who have worked together since the beginning of their respective careers in the film industry.
Recently, Aamir heard the script written by Abhijat but he didn't liked it completely. He asked to rewrite the script which gave Raju and Abhijat a big shock. It was not a reaction they were expected from Aamir.
Aamir felt that the script didn't had enough elements to make it suitable for a theatrical release. He expected Raju and Abhijat to follow their usual approach of blending laughter with emotion and drama. As the script lacked comedy promoting Aamir to request them to rewrite the script.
The Dadasaheb Phalke biopic was about to go in production from next month. Right now everything related to the film is on hold as per Aamir's instruction to make changes in the script. On the other hand, Aamir is listening to various scripts and narrations from filmmakers and writers from across the industries.
Talking about Dadasaheb Phalke, he is regarded as the father of Indian Cinema. In 1913, he made India's first full length feature film named 'Raja Harishchandra'. One of the interesting things about the film was the female roles in the film were portrayed by male actors.
In 1969, the Government of India instituted the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards. It remains the country's highest honour for lifetime achievement award in cinema. Dadasaheb went on to make films like Mohini Bashmasur, Satyavan Savitri, Gangavataran and Shri Krishna Janma to name a few.
On the work front, Aamir was last seen in his own production Sitaare Zameen Par, a sequel to his 2007 released Taare Zameen Par. He was paired opposite Genelia Deshmukh and as an on screen couple they were truly appreciated for their fresh pairing and chemistry.
The film received love at the box-office and from the critics as well. After a few weeks of theatrical release Aamir released the film on YouTube on Pay Per View format. A format which usually filmmakers doesn't follow in the film industry.
