Post India's match with Australia, people are interested to know about Australian player Tanveer Singh Sangha.
He was born on November 26, 2001, in Sydney, Australia, and is a rising star in international cricket, renowned for his right-arm leg-spin bowling and right-handed batting.
Now let's talk about his early life and background.
Tanveer and his family have deep cultural roots. His father, Joga Singh, emigrated from Rahimpur village near Jalandhar, Punjab, India, to Australia in 1997 on a student visa.
In Sydney, Joga works as a taxi driver, while Tanveer's mother, Upjeet Kaur, originally from Fiji, is an accountant. Tanveer also has a sister named Simran.
Isn't it an inspiring story?
Tanveer did his education at East Hills Boys High School in Sydney.
How did his cricket journey start?
Tanveer first came into the limelight when he represented Australia in the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, emerging as the team's leading wicket-taker with 15 wickets. But passion for cricket was evident from a young age.
This was the start of his achievements; after this, he made his Big Bash League (BBL) debut for the Sydney Thunder on December 12, 2020, and concluded the season as the third-highest wicket-taker, securing 21 wickets at an average of 16.66.
His promising performance resulted in an international debut on August 30, 2023, against South Africa, where he didn't disappoint but rather impressed everyone with figures of 4/31.
Later, he made his One Day International (ODI) debut on September 12, 2023, also against South Africa.
With his inclusion in the Champions Trophy squad, Sangha will have the opportunity to prove himself on one of cricket's biggest stages, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Though Tanveer will be playing for Australia, his Indian roots create curiosity amongst Indians. Everyone is eager to see what he has to offer to cricket.
