Jaat Box Office Collection Day 1:

Sunny Deol's Jaat has been released; it doesn't match up to Gadar 2's hype. Jaat reportedly has made around Rs 9.5 crore nett in India on its first day.

A little background on this: Sunny in 2023 with Gadar 2 gave the biggest hit of his lifetime, with a collection of 40 crore on the opening day, and this resulted in offering him a series of projects that include Jaat, Border 2, and Lahore 1947.

Advance booking figures 

Jaat advance booking ended on Wednesday night with a relatively low Rs 2.37 crore gross in pre-sales across India, according to Sacnilk.

Naturally, to compare it to “Gadar 2,” the massive 17.60 crore advance, it is indeed low.

Breakdown

The movie Jaat was released on Thursday, i.e., 10th April 2025. Many parts of north India were observing a holiday for Mahavir Jayanti.

If we talk about occupancy, then the movie witnessed a 14 percent occupancy overall, with 1472 in the Delhi-NCR region, and witnessed around 19 percent occupancy. Whereas in the Mumbai region, the film had around 984 shows with approximately 11 percent occupancy.

Though Jaat's collection was not as big as Gaadar 2, it indeed is better than any of Sunny’s other recent films, with some exceptions like the Yamla Pagla Deewana franchise and Apne doing marginally well.

Sunny's Future Aspirations

Gadar 2 marked the start of Sunny's newfound career, which was lost somewhere.

Now he has Border 2 planned for 2026, which is the sequel to his 1997 hit Border. The movie features a solid cast, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan, among others, and is expected to release in 2026.

Sunny recently shared the news himself that the film will be set in 1971, the same as the first film.

In addition to this, Sunny is planning on working with director Rajkumar Santoshi for Lahore 1947, which is being produced by Aamir Khan.

Sunny and Rajkumar have a long and deep history with them, working on several films together like Ghayal, Ghatak, and Damini.

They haven't worked together since the 2000s, and it will be a delight to see the duo reunite again and hopefully bring a masterpiece for the audience.
